Learn how to create a pattern off an existing garment without unpicking it and work out how to construct it.
Do you have that favourite garment in your wardrobe you have worn until it is thread bare but would love to be able to recreate it? Do you have basic sewing skills?
Come along and learn the tips and tricks of turning a much loved garment into a sewing pattern.
What will be covered?
Basic pattern skills
Creating a pattern from an existing garment
Checking and measuring the pattern
Adding seam allowances and pattern information
How to sew the garment
Making a mock up to check the fit and construction
What to bring:
Tee shirt (we will use this to learn the basics of making a pattern)
The garment you would like to make a pattern of
Pen and pencil
Ruler
Setsquare (if you have one)
Tape measure
Morning tea and lunch
(Pattern making paper will be provided)

This course is supported by the TEC (Tertiary Education Commission) to assist with literacy, numeracy and wellbeing needs of students. You must attend 80% of the class. At the same time we hope you will learn other useful and interesting skills and have a lot of fun learning with us.
