Feel more confident using a computer for everyday life.

This friendly, step-by-step course is designed for complete beginners or those who want to build a stronger foundation in essential computer skills. Whether you want to manage emails, create documents, organise files, or feel safer online, this course will guide you through the basics in a supportive and practical learning environment.

Over eight weeks, you will learn how computers work, how to confidently navigate programs, organise files and folders, browse the internet effectively, and use email with confidence. You’ll also gain hands-on experience with Microsoft Word and Excel — creating documents, formatting text, building simple spreadsheets, and even designing a basic personal budget.

Online safety is an important focus, helping you understand passwords, recognise scams, and develop safe browsing habits. In the final session, you’ll bring everything together by creating, saving, and emailing your own document independently.

By the end of the course, you’ll have the practical skills and confidence to use a computer for both personal and professional purposes.

No prior experience required — just a willingness to learn.

This course is supported by the TEC (Tertiary Education Commission) to assist with literacy, numeracy and wellbeing needs of students. You must attend 80% of the class. At the same time we hope you will learn other useful and interesting skills and have a lot of fun learning with us.
